Plain English Summary

Your data belongs to you. We collect only what is needed to run the service and nothing more. We never sell, share, or use your training data for any purpose beyond displaying it back to you and managing your account. You can export or delete your data at any time. We will always notify you before anything is deleted. Data is stored on servers in the United States and governed by Indian law.

Part 1
Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account on runlog.in or using the Runlog client library, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

These terms apply to all users — free and paid — and to all uses of the Runlog platform, including the web dashboard, client library, API, and command-line tools.

2. Description of Service

Runlog is a run-based telemetry platform that allows users to log, monitor, and analyse metrics from training runs, experiments, and other sequential data workflows. The service includes:

  • A Python client library for logging data from your scripts
  • A real-time web dashboard at runlog.in for viewing and analysing runs
  • Terminal log capture and storage
  • Alerting, run comparison, and workspace collaboration features
3. Account Registration

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API tokens and account credentials. You must notify us immediately at support@runlog.in if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You agree to provide accurate information during registration. Accounts created with false information may be suspended without notice.

4. Permitted Use

Runlog may be used for:

  • Personal machine learning research and experimentation
  • Academic and educational projects
  • Professional and commercial training workflows
  • Any sequential data logging use case

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Using Runlog to log illegal, harmful, or malicious activities
  • Attempting to reverse engineer server-side infrastructure
  • Using the client library to build a competing logging service
  • Sharing API tokens publicly or with unauthorised parties
  • Automated account creation or abuse of free tier limits
  • Any use that violates applicable Indian or international law
5. Plan Limits and Quotas

Your account is subject to limits based on your subscription plan, including daily log limits and storage. These limits are enforced server-side.

When a daily limit is reached, the service will gracefully stop accepting new data until the next day. Plan limits are subject to change. You will be notified by email at least 30 days before any reduction in limits that affects your current usage.

6. Client Library License

The Runlog client library is distributed under the Runlog SDK Proprietary License. Key terms:

  • Free to use for any purpose when connecting to runlog.in services
  • Modification permitted for personal use only
  • Redistribution as part of another product requires written permission
  • Use with servers other than runlog.in is prohibited without a commercial licence

For commercial licensing enquiries contact: contact@runlog.in

7. Payments and Subscriptions

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually as selected. All prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) inclusive of applicable taxes. Runlog does not store your payment card details.

You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. There are no refunds for partial months.

Failure to pay will result in automatic downgrade to the Free tier. If your stored data exceeds the Free tier storage limit, the excess data will be queued for deletion oldest-first. You will receive two email notifications — one 4 days before deletion and one 1 day before. During this 5-day grace period you may export the affected data or upgrade your plan to retain it. After the grace period, the excess data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

8. Service Availability

Runlog aims for high availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance will be announced at least 24 hours in advance via the dashboard or email.

9. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon termination, all your data will be permanently deleted within 24 hours and all API tokens will be immediately revoked. No refunds will be issued for unused subscription time.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

10. Limitation of Liability

Runlog is provided as-is. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Runlog shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid in the three months preceding the claim.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Part 2
Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Runlog (runlog.in) collects, uses, stores, and protects your data. We are committed to compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

1. Your Data Belongs to You
Core Commitment

Your training data, metrics, and logs are your intellectual property. Runlog will never sell, share, or use your data for any purpose other than providing the service to you. We are the custodian of your data — you remain the complete owner at all times.

2. What We Collect

Account data

  • Email address and name
  • Password — stored as a cryptographic hash, never in plain text
  • Subscription plan and billing information
  • API tokens you generate

Training data (your content)

  • Metrics you log via the Runlog library
  • System stats if enabled — from your machine only
  • Terminal output captured during training runs
  • Run configuration, tags, and notes you provide
  • Step counts and timestamps

What we do not collect

  • Your model weights or checkpoints
  • Your training scripts or source code
  • Any data not explicitly sent via the Runlog library
  • Cookies beyond what is required for authentication
  • Browsing behaviour or third-party tracking data
3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Displaying your metrics and logs on your dashboard
  • Enforcing your plan limits
  • Sending run alerts you configure
  • Sending data deletion warnings when your storage limit is exceeded after a plan downgrade
  • Providing customer support when you contact us
  • Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics for improving the service

We will never:

  • Sell your data to any third party
  • Share your data with advertisers
  • Use your training data to train AI models
  • Access your data without your permission
4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on servers located in the United States (AWS us-east-1, Virginia). As this constitutes cross-border data transfer under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, we disclose this explicitly. The United States is not a restricted jurisdiction under the DPDP Act, and this transfer is lawful. Your data remains governed by these terms and Indian law regardless of where it is physically stored.

Security measures include:

  • All data transmitted over HTTPS and WSS with TLS encryption
  • API tokens hashed and stored securely
  • Passwords stored using industry-standard cryptographic hashing
  • Database access restricted to application layer only
  • Regular security reviews

In the event of a data breach that may affect your personal data, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by the DPDP Act 2023.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active and within your plan's storage limits. If your stored data exceeds your plan's storage limit following a downgrade, the excess is queued for deletion oldest-first. You will receive two email notifications — 4 days and 1 day before deletion — giving you time to export or upgrade. After the 5-day grace period, excess data is permanently deleted from all servers. Deletion is irreversible. You will receive a confirmation email when deletion is complete.

You may export or delete any run, project, or your entire account at any time from the dashboard. Upon account deletion, all data is permanently removed from all servers within 24 hours.

6. Your Rights and Data Export

Under the DPDP Act 2023 and our commitment to data ownership, you have the following rights:

  • Access — view all your data at any time via the dashboard
  • Export — download any run's data in standard formats (CSV, JSON, log) at any time, on any plan
  • Deletion — delete any run, project, or your entire account from Settings at any time
  • Correction — update your account information, run names, tags, and notes at any time
  • Withdraw consent — close your account at any time; all data is permanently deleted within 24 hours
7. Third Parties

Runlog does not share your data with third parties, with the following narrow exceptions:

  • Payment processors — for billing purposes only, subject to their own privacy policies. We do not store your payment card details.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — for sending alerts and notifications you configure. Only your email address and the content of notifications is shared.
  • Legal compliance — if required by Indian law or a valid court order. We will notify you of any such request to the extent permitted by law.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking services.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before changes take effect. Material changes to data use will require fresh consent.

10. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act 2000 and the DPDP Act 2023, a Grievance Officer is appointed to address any concerns regarding your data:

Govind Barbade
Role Grievance Officer, Runlog
Response time Within 48 hours of receipt
